从科学院窗口看古植物学

----来自Pequabuck小河的灵感

 

清晰而快速梳理有关国家或地区的古植物学研究发展脉络并非是一件轻而易举的事情。数年前我曾思考诸如“美国古植物学是如何兴起和崛起的？”、“美国古植物学研究力量分布格局的历史成因？”之类的问题。这些问题一度让人苦恼。

 

有一天，我在Pequabuck小河边漫步，突然想出一个办法：从美国科学院入手，看看该院有多少涉及古植物学研究的院士与外籍院士？我很快搞出一份名单，然后请美国资深古植物学家帮忙确认并作补充。通过这些代表人物，我们可以很快了解美国古植物学的基本发展脉络。

 

基于以上考虑和探索，我在项目研究中设计了“古植物学院士与外籍院士的历史与问题”之专题，拟对一些国家的科学院及其涉及古植物学研究的院士们开展调查研究。这个专题至少有两个工作方向：第一、从科学院窗口看古植物学；第二、从古植物学角度看科学院。前者是本专题关注的主要内容；后者超出了我的工作范围，但或许能为感兴趣的同仁提供一些线索。
