国际左派本来就是破产的

杨玲女士在博文提到“国际左派的道德破产”的问题，这其实从来都是不争的事实，不然他们也不会只在第三世界和落后国家才会有较大的影响。

我在十几年前读英国历史学家 John M.Roberts的The Triumph of the West。该书第十章The Confident Aggressor中有下面一段发人深省的话。

This was to account for much of the strength of the impact of western civilisation through empire. Liberals often sought to move mountains. They were often universalists, contemptuous of the past and little interested in the specific character of the societies they sought to improve. Just as medieval men believe that 'Christians are right, Pagans are wrong', so the nineteenth century came to think that 'progressive are right, traditionalists are wrong'. And traditionalists in non-western countries were usually much easier to override than traditionalist at home. The idea of progress sustained a secularised missionary sprit. The faith it was morally proper to spread was not just that of the Cross, but a faith in western values-understand, of course as universal values- and in the material bounty of western civilisation.

这段话中的“And traditionalists in non-western countries were usually much easier to override than traditionalist at home（非西方国家的传统主义者通常比自家的传统主义者更容易被制服）”其实道出了20世纪非西方的第三世界和落后国家普遍遭受苦难的原因，正是因为西方国家的左派思想更容易在非西方的第三世界和落后国家取得胜利。

历史证明，知识分子普遍左倾的国家，不会有好的出路。那些在西方国家普遍得不到更多支持和取得胜利的左派思想，能够比较顺利地在落后国家生根发芽。这也正是20世纪落后的非西方国家命运坎坷不幸和深受其害的原因。事实上，国际左派的道德在自己的国家本来就是破产的，因为他们在西方国家之内处境尴尬，所以才热衷于在落后国家寻求成功的机会。他们在第三世界远比在自己国家活跃和受人尊敬，正是因为在这些国家里面右派和传统势力相对薄弱，更容易被制服。

这次在汪晖事件中签名的80位“海外名学者”尽管看起来阵容强大，实际上在自己的社会里面并没有多少影响。那些自称有良心和正义感的西方学院派左派，从来不关心现实的制度建设，他们其实是自己社会中非常边沿化的一群人。事实上，正因为他们自己的社会中没有几个人会理睬他们，所以他们才会那么不分青红皂白地要在在中国这样的落后国家输出他们的fashinable nonsenses，为了扶植自己的势力，连群架都打。
