For new readers and those who request to be “好友 good friends” , please read my 公告栏 first.
Yesterday (April 3, 2016) there was a freak snow storm coupled with powerful winds in the Greater Boston area. As a result many trees broke or fell resulting in large amount of damages, injuries, and even two deaths (yes, they were killed by fallen trees). I did not escape either but I was lucky again. As I returned home onto our driveway, just as I got out of the car, a 20 feet long five inch indiameter tree branch broke and fell (see photo below). It completely destroyed the rear windshield and part of the trunk of my car (see picture below again). The blunt end of the branch also hit my head. Fortunately, I was wearing a hat, and it was the blunt end with no sharp points to concentrate the force. Finally the car window probably absorbed part of the impact. Otherwise, I could easily become the third fatal statistic of yesterday. Thus while I was stunned but not knocked out. There was apparent no brain concussion since I functioned normally the next 24 hours without any ill effects. 30 minutes after the incident another huge tree fell in our yard but missed the house. The damage to the car of course must be fixed which fortunately was covered by insurance. How lucky can one get?
Note added 3/7/2016: It is now three days aftrer this incident. I am fine in all respects and thank sincerely for the concerns and well wishes of friends and readers worldwide.
