Fornew readers and those who request to be “好友 good friends”,  please read my 公告first.

The old Chinese saying that “bad luck never comes alone” is so true. This time a third wave of heavy snow hit Boston area today in less than 3 weeks on top of already record snowfall.  Because the city and  town have not even finishes removing snow from roadways  from the second storm, all government and public office were asked  to be closed. Harvard University which seldom closes during its 380+ years  of history also closed down. The city has resorted to melting the removed  snow since the storage places are already piled so high with no room for more. Instead of showing you more snow photos I direct you to a human interest story.

Sitting in the warmth of my home and not having to go to work, it is such  story makes one feel “I am a lucky guy” once again.

Notes added 2/9/2015 6:05 pm EST: so far 74 inches of snow have fallen in the past 3 storm and the 3rd storm is not yet finished for another 10 hours. Most public transportation systems such as commuter rail and subways have shut down or becoming inoperable. Many flat building roofs have collapsed due to wieght of combined snow fall. The Governor has declared a state of emergency. So far because of advanced warning, people are well prepared so long as they do not have to venture out - another advantage of being retired.

Note added 2/10/2015: One may rightly ask "since Boston has a harbor, why don't you dump the snow there?". Answer: fear of pollution since all other discharge into the harbor goes through a water treatment plant. But we are actually doing the dumping now as a last resort measure since there are no more place to dump the snow on land.

One more note: Weather report says that a 4th storm is coming in tAhree days! This one predicted to be over 12 inches again (. Note added 2/16/2015. It turned out to be 18 inches in Lexington)

As of 2/25/2015, it is now over 100 inches and counting.

It is now official: with the snow last night 3/15/2105 (2.9 inches), Boston has estatablished new record for snow fall in one season 108.6 inches!

Note added 4/17/2105: The final bill for snow removal for the entire season of Boston is 350 million dollars
