Recently Harvard University standardized and made uniform thefollowing requirements for all researchers:

Responsible conduct of research instruction is required for alltrainees, fellows and scholars who receive grant or award support (for example,for research training and/or education, and career development). The NationalInstitute of Health (NIH) also highly encourages substantial face-to-facediscussion as a component of successful training. This policy affects all newand renewal applications submitted on or after January of 2010 and allcontinuation applications with deadlines falling on or after January of 2011.
Course Details
The curriculum consists of the following topics:
Conflict of Interest
Mentor/Mentee Responsibilities and Relationships
Complying with Federal Grant and Contract Requirements
Subcontractor Selection and Monitoring
Collaborative Research
Peer Review of Grants and Publications
Data Acquisition, Management, and Ownership
Research Misconduct
Responsible Authorship
The Scientist as a Responsible Member of Society
Laboratory Safety
Human and Animal Research Regulations
Intellectual Property Considerations in Research: Bay-Dole Act
Export Controls
Each week, participants attend a two-hour lecture. Additionally,participants are responsible for completing assigned readings and twelve briefcase studies.
Course Completion
Those who meet course requirements will receive a certificate ofcourse completion.
