My home town – the greater Boston area , MASSACHUSETTS, USA
Since 1950, except for three years of working in Midwest, the greater Boston area of Massachusetts, USA is the place I called home. For the past 42 years I have lived in Lexington MA, a historical town within the area and the birthplace of American revolution for independence..
Boston is also known as the Athens of America Within its environ there are 80+ institutions of higher learning with MIT and Harvard best known. Wellesley College is one of the premier women college in the US. Among her well known graduates are Hilary Clinton and Madame Chiang Kai-shek (宋美齡).
Okay, Boston winters are cold and sleety, and housing is expensive. But residents love the area’s world-class arts, museums, symphony, shopping, restaurants and world famous hospitals. Celebrities world wide often come here for treatment. Walking and biking are easy, and the core of college students—some 250,000, attending more than 80 colleges—makes for one of the most educated addresses around; one in five persons is affiliated with higher education. Sports fans are fierce, whether worshiping at the feet of the Red Sox, New England Patriots (American football), Celtics (Basketball), or Bruins (Hockey). These are all recent or current world champion teams. Here are some statistics from the Chambers of Commerce:
Population: 4,455,217
Median housing price: $479,700
Average number of sunny days: 205
According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) it is 12th healthiest place to retire.
Boston is home to American history - the Freedom Trail, a fascinating 2.5-mile hike through early American history; the Minuteman National Historical Park chronicles the story of the American Revolution; the first subway system in the US was built here; as well as many other “first”s in science, medicine, and technology.
Pardon my hometown pride, It is my personal opinion that next to San Francisco Boston is the best place to live in the US. But unlike San Francisco, we do not live in constant concern for the next big earthquake which many consider to be inevitable for SF.

Also according to the latest survey, Lexington is the 2nd best small city to live in the US.
