Proximity to Fame (#5) – It is nice to be remembered

mentioned my connection with Roger Myerson and Eric Maskin, co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economics. Of course I had no communications with either of them since they left Harvard more than 30 years ago. We were engaged in entirely different research endeavors since then. Thus, it is nice to receive unexpectedly the following invitation.

I guess my course on control, decision, and game theory had some impact on them. It is nice to be remembered.
I went to the reception yesterday and had a good time. Both Myerson and Maskin were gracious in their short remarks. Both emphasized the education they received from Harvard as undergraduate and graduate students. Myerson told me that he has a daughter doing research on Chinese psychiatric practice at Peking University and Maskin has courtesy appointments at Tsinghua and the Central Finance and Economics University (中央财經大学?).
Astrologically, the planets must be aligned correctly for me in 2007-2008. So many of my colleagues had won fames that I bath in the warmth of their reflected glory.
