For as long as I can remember, new year eve is always party time when we gather with friends in our or their homes to celebrate the past and welcome the new. A few minutes before and after midnight, everyone gather around the TV set to watch the famous ball drop at Time Square in New York City and her festive moments. However 2020 is special and different due to the pandemic. My wife and I were alone at home and started watch various local and national TV broadcast of the evening at 11 pm. To fill the time slot, TV anchors feature all kinds of tidbits of history of the past year. On CNN, a fifty-something anchor featured a live interview of his parents who have been married for 61 years (exactly the same number of years as my wife and I). Sitting propped up in bed, eating snacks, and watching the event on 70 inch screen brought back many poignant memories of our lives. It is “once more with feeling”. We were lucky and are grateful!
