Disappearing Electronic Files

I complained earlier about files disappearing at many Chinese website after only a few month’s time. Apparently this also happens at other non-Chinese websites after about ten years – nothing is permanent. Recently as I re-read some of my blog articles written in 2008, all the photos and figures in the article are missing (in particular many equations displayed as a figure in http://blog.sciencenet.cn/blog-1565-14253.html are entirely missing), and many URL references in the article no longer contain the stuff referenced. It is a pity but nothing can be done. The world does not have infinite storage for all the junk generated by human beings. That is life!
