Airports in Beijing (2).

I wrote earlier about the four airports in Beijing http://blog.sciencenet.cn/blog-1565-23915.html from 1979 to early 21^st century.  In notes added there last month I reported that CGTN announce an entirely new airport will be added to Beijing early next year. Now more details are known as reported by the Economist magazine 4/6/2019.

The airport will be the largest in the world designed to handle 1.6 billion expected passengers a year in 2037 (600 million passengers a year total for Beijing in 2017), Is was built south of Beijing requiring displacing 11 villages with 20,000 people, building a new city, and other infrastructures with the new city and airport. Nothing in China these days aren’t colossal !
