I have no way of knowing how people really feel, but the vast majority of those I meet couldn't be nicer. Every once in a while someone barks at me. My New Year's resolution is not to bark back.
---- Tucker Carlson(1969- ),
Each year’s regrets are envelopes in which messages of hope are found for the New Year.”
- John R. Dallas Jr.,
A brand new year could be considered the seed, and your goals could be the buds, but taking action and achieving your dreams, well, that is the flower. May the New Year be your seed and may you have lots of flowers to inspire you!”
– Kate Summers,
New Year’s Eve, where auld acquaintance be forgot. Unless, of course, those tests come back positive.
– Jay Leno,
Midnight on New Year's Eve is a unique kind of magic where, just for a moment, the past and the future exist at once in the present."
— Hillary DePiano
— Hillary DePiano,女作家
Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to.
-Bill Vaughan(1915-1977,
An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
-Bill Vaughan
Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits.
-Anonymous(无名氏)
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every New Year find you a better man.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.
-Author Unknown (无名氏)
Whether we want them or not, the New Year will bring new challenges; whether we seize them or not, the New Year will bring new opportunities.
-Michael Josephson(1942- ,
The only way to spend New Year's Eve is either quietly with friends or in a brothel. Otherwise when the evening ends and people pair off, someone is bound to be left in tears.
-W.H. Auden(奥登,1907-1973,英国著名诗人)
Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering 'it will be happier'...”
― Alfred Lord Tennyson
“For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.”
― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”
― Neil Gaiman,
Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.”
― Brad Paisley,
“I would say happy new year but it's not happy; it's exactly the same as last year except colder. ”
― Robert Clark,
“The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes. Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions, he would make no resolutions. Unless a man starts afresh about things, he will certainly do nothing effective.”
― G.K. Chesterton, A Chesterton calendar
Each age has deemed the new-born year
The fittest time for festal cheer.”
― Walter Scott(1771-1832),
