A vagrant, bemoaning his fate,  Is wandering with a bag on his back.

Бежал из тюрьмы темной ночью,   В тюрьме он за правду страдал.

He escaped from prison,  a dark night,    In prison, for the truth.he suffered

Идти дальше нет уже мочи –   Пред ним расстилался Байкал.

To go further    cannot      Before him stretched the Baikal.

为真理曾受尽磨难 在黑夜里逃出监牢  他行走得筋疲力尽 贝加尔湖展现在眼前

Бродяга к Байкалу подходит,   Рыбацкую лодку берет

Tramp to Lake Baikal  go/ suitable  fishing boat takes.

流浪汉他走到了湖滨  乘上渔船开始航行   He is approaching Baikal.

Под+ходить. Под is a prefix that in this context means "close" + ходить ( to walk )

= To approach by foot./to fit" ("мне это подходит").

И грустную песню заводит,  Про Родину что-то поёт.

And the sad song starts,  Pro Homeland something sings.

他独自在忧愁地歌唱   歌唱着祖国的苦难

Бродяга Байкал переехал,  Навстречу родимая мать.

Tramp Baikal moved      Towards darling mother.

流浪汉他渡过贝加尔湖  年老的母亲迎接着他

«Ах, здравствуй, ах, здравствуй, родная, Здоров ли отец мой и брат?»

"Oh, hello, oh, hello, darling, how healthy is my father and my brother?"

啊 你好啊 亲爱的母亲 父兄们可过得安宁？

«Отец твой давно уж в могиле, Землею засыпан лежит,

"Your father had long been in the grave, earth /land,filled,lied

你父亲早长眠在地下  一抔黄土掩埋着他

А брат твой давно уж в Сибири,  Давно кандалами гремит».

And your brother had long been in Siberia, Long shackles thunders. "

你兄弟已锁上了铁镣  被流放到西伯利亚

На нем рубашонка худая,И множество разных заплат,

Шапчонка на нем арестанта   И серый тюремный халат.

He wore smocks thin, and a lot of different patches
Shapchonka on him prisoner and prison gray robe.

他身上那破烂的衣衫缝着许多大小补丁

他头上还戴着一顶破帽身穿监狱的灰色长衣

Бродяга к Байкалу подходит,  Рыбацкую лодку берет.

И грустную песню заводит -  Про родину что-то поёт:

He escaped from prison during a dark night

Where he was imprisoned for defending the truth.

But he could not go any further  In front of him was Lake Baikal.

Бродяга к Байкалу подходит,Рыбацкую лодку берёт

The vagrant walks to the shore  And climbs in to a fisherman's boat.

He starts to sing a sad song  Telling something about his native land.

"I left my wife when she was young  And left her with my small children,

1 мочь：be able to. the noun мочи is related to the verb "мочь".

Here, мочь, IMHO, is cognisant with мощь = power // “не мочь + 未完成体”指不能进行某种动作
